Chicken Smoothie!
What is Chicken Smoothie? Chicken Smoothie is an online pet collecting/trading game. It's been around since 2008, and has plenty of early 2000's charm. Part of that, though, is it's lack of tutorial. You have to learn to play through trial and error. It's not a complex game, so it's no biggie, but I've tried to cover some basic things here for new players.

How Do You Play? Each month different pets come out, which you can adopt. Throughout the month the pets will grow in to adults. You can trade these pets, as well as every other pet that's ever been released, to grow your collection. Some people try to collect all the pets in the game, while other people focus on smaller goals.

Pet Values? New pets have "Unknown Rarity", unlike older pets, which range from "OMG so Common" to "OMG so rare". A pets age also adds to its rarity. A common pet from 2009 is worth more than a common pet from 2019. Other factors in a pets value can include species, with rodents and horses being valued less than other species.

The most important thing is obviously just the wants of the person you're trading with. I personally collect tech, angel, food, and heart themed pets mainly. The pets around this box are some ones from my collection :D

What are the Pound and Lost and Found? Everyday, multiple times a day, the pound and the lost and found open. The pound is where donated or confiscated pets are avaible for all users to take. Every user who catches the pound while it's open can choose from however many pets are left. The lost and found is the same idea, just with items.

What are the Special Events? Special events are my favorite part of the game. They are when new pets come out every day, and often you can collect tokens around the website to buy the special pets. There are 4 main events a year, Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and the Summer Event.

Tokens can be found by clicking around the website. Eventually the banner ad at the bottom of the website will change to a pop-up that tells you you’ve found a token. You can find a token every twenty minutes, and tokens can be traded in for special event pets. During events there are free daily pets that come out, along with daily “token pets” which are the ones traded in for tokens. Token pets often end up being rarer than typical daily pets, so they’re def worth your tokens.

The Christmas event is more simple, with just daily pets coming out everyday of December until Christmas. December 18th is a special day though, because all users are given 3 release pets, all of which are rare or higher. It’s a good idea not to trade these pets until you know their rarity so you don’t get scammed lol.

September isn’t an event month, but it is the month “Staff Pets” come out. Staff pets are all dogs made with one color pallet. Each one is designed by a member of Chicken Smoothie staff, and they usually have really interesting designs. They’re usually valued more than normal pets.

What is the Forum for? Most people mainly use the forum to advertise their trading threads. Trading threads are posts you can make in the trading forum. Every user gets one post that they can infinitely edit or add to. Most people just title their trading threads something like "Looking for trades" and then bump it everytime they're online. The forum is massive though, and there's a place for everything. People buy and sell art, set up roleplays, and just generally discuss life in the forum.

What are Chicken Dollars?Chicken Dollars (or C$) is a currency used in Chicken Smoothie that you can pay for with real money. C$ can also be traded for. I personally have never bought C$ but have been able to get plenty through trading.

What are Store Pets?Store Pets are special pets that can only be bought with C$. They are considered much more valuable than normal pets. Old store pets regularly sell for hundred of C$. They are considered extra to the normal pets though.
What about items?Items are also in the game. They can be used to dress up/create scenes with your pets. There's even a monthly dress up challenge, with the winner getting a reward. TBH I am not an item collector, so that's all I can really say on the topic.

The game is very simple, but also very complex. Part of the joy of it is exploring the website and learning the culture of it for yourself. I have barely mentioned a bunch of major parts of the site. If you like Neocities, I am sure you will like Chicken Smoothie. The 2008 of it all is alive and well there. People have blinkies in their signatures and HTML designed profiles. Our brothers in arms.
